Owner Julie joined me for a lap of the coastal reef, which started with crystal blue calm waters with views of coral and sea life.

There was a bit of challenging section navigating through a channel in the reef. It was honestly my first time falling off the board in about a year. But that’s all part of the fun. Once outside the reef, we caught downwind swells that carried us between 6-7 mph for about a mile, before catching a swell back through the downwind channel of the reef.

It was so much fun, I did it a second time! Ended the day a little more than 4 miles.

Inside the reef has to be a phenomenal experience for the begginer, but owners Julie and Curt where awesome and accommodating hosts in helping find and navigating the more challenging aspects of the reef.

We stopped in Costa Maya with our cruise ship. We were scheduled for a pyramid excursion but opted out as the day before there was a bus accident. We actually could not be more pleased with the day spent with Curt and Julie. They are amazing instructors with the patience of saints. In our group there were all levels of boarders and they handled each one exactly as they should.

The beach is a wonderful location to relax afterwards, have a few drinks and listen to the ocean.

Our family signed up for the 4 K SUP excursion. Thankfully we signed up the down wind tour on this windy day. The waters were beautiful despite the large amounts of seaweed that had washed ashore. Curt and Julie were delightful throughout the day, and were responsive in advance when trying to book. The starting point beach area was well kept and lovely. We paddled over an hour at a relaxed pace. The tour ended at another beach club where we spent the rest of the day. A great day!
